Wednesday - the best day of the week

The pickalicious party was coming. It was all we could talk about. What presents to make, what presents to buy. How to do our hair, what pink to wear, this was a BIG deal. The day finally arrived. We started the day with a friend coming to watch my kids while I ran to the doctor. She brought crafts. Yes, my children adore her. Gretchen, you are the best.

Elle got her hair blown out, Kate got hers curled. They both got pick dresses. Elle chose pink dress up shoes while Kate chose her purple jellies. They clipped flowers onto headbands, put pink blush and pink gloss on. They were ready!

I love this picture because it captured such a moment. You know, Kate having a toy that Elle wanted hidden behind her back. Oh the power.

Kate had to be told multiple times to not open the present. She stayed strong. Such temptation.

This was one unbelievable party. My friend Kim has a gift. Down to every detail kind of gift. The girls started out decorating crowns. They were each given a homemade apron (I have taken over Kate's). And they read, but of course, Pinkalicious.

Next, decorating cupcakes. It was a really good thing that my children were not sick because into the bowl those little knifes would go and straight into the mouth, back into the bowl. They LOVED it.

They each decorated four to take home and one to eat. They ate grapes, strawberries and booty (Kate couldn't stop eating the booty, if you have never tried it, buy it, it is scrumptious). And of course Kim made green stuff to eat after.

We partied way past nap time. It was obvious to everyone and time to go. Upon our arrival home we saw this next to our trash can. WOW, what a treat! We found out later who mysteriously left this much appreciated boy toy. THANK YOU Michele:)

Gray loves it but has to fight for time in it. The girls are constantly driving their "van" to parties. Please note Grays "salmon" colored shirt for the party.

This next picture, although cute, gets me the worlds worst mother award. I have been trying a new method of discipline. I count, no emotion, at three they "take two" a time out for the age you are. Lately when I say "that's one" to Kate she storms up to her room and yells "I a close my door" and does. I am usually calling after her explaining that she is not in time out. So after the party everyone was tired and I counted her "one". She stormed to her room and slammed the door. I got Elle to bed and Gray, but Gray had some trouble and ended up crying until I got him. I had to take the kids to the Church that night and Kate was still asleep (it was 6:30). I had no choice, I had to wake her. I went in and saw this. I couldn't believe she climbed out of her crib, I was shocked! Until it hit me. She didn't climb out, I never put her in. She even got her little blanket out. I felt SO bad. She got lots of extra snuggles that night.

Last but not least. I did it. The frosting in the hair during the party was my last straw. She was excited to let me cut it. When I was finished she ran to the mirror. I didn't hear anything so I went to see her reaction. She turned to me with hands on her hips and a pout with her lips and declared "I don't like it. I want my long hair." She likes it now. All she needed was a compliment from dad.

you're kids look just like a little brooke and erin and preston--not that I knew you then but that's what it makes me think of. What a super fun party! I love that to kids the simplest things are the best. My next birthday I think will be green.

so if they are little erin and brooke that means you were the one hiding the toys from erin? Not surprising :)

I'm waiting for the day when bedtime doesn't need to include some apology for the day. I'd throw myself a party for that.

Totally love the pic of Elle glaring at Kate with her huge grin. You should put that on your fridge or your bathroom mirror.

Ps. You're so not those parents I was referring too. Your too nice and I don't think the F-bomb is in your vocab!
